Offshore Fishing Charters in Marathon, Florida
The Best Offshore Fishing in the Florida Keys
When you want to chase serious fish in open water, Always Late Charters takes you to the offshore grounds that Captain Lucas Ponzoa has fished his entire life. Born and raised in Marathon, he knows exactly where the fish are running — whether it's mahi stacked on the weedlines, blackfin tuna busting bait offshore, or wahoo screaming across the surface.
Offshore trips depart from Captain Hook's Marina at 11833 Overseas Highway in Marathon, FL. We run half-day, 3/4-day, and full-day trips for up to 6 guests aboard our 32-foot SeaVee with twin 300 HP Yamaha engines.
What You'll Catch Offshore
Offshore fishing in Marathon puts you on some of the most productive grounds in the Florida Keys. Target species include:
Mahi Mahi — Spring and summer bring huge mahi to the weedlines 10–30 miles offshore. Aggressive fighters and incredible table fare.
Blackfin Tuna — One of the hardest-fighting fish pound for pound. Blackfin run offshore year-round and are best caught with live bait or jigging.
Wahoo — The fastest fish in the ocean. A prized catch for speed, fight, and flavor. Peak season runs fall through winter.
Sailfish — Florida's state saltwater fish. Kite fishing is Captain Lucas's specialty and the Keys are one of the top sailfish destinations on the East Coast.
Captain Lucas reads the conditions daily and targets whatever species is running best. No generic plans — every trip is built around what's actually in the water.
