2 min read

This is the October 2026 fishing report for Marathon, FL from Always Late Charters. Recent trips have produced blackfin tuna and mahi-mahi offshore, along with wahoo and snapper. We run from Captain Hook’s Marina, 11833 Overseas Highway, with up to 6 guests aboard a 32-foot SeaVee.

Marathon Fishing Report: What’s Biting in October

Offshore, blackfin tuna and mahi-mahi made up much of the catch, with wahoo mixed in. On the bottom, we found yelloweye snapper along with other snapper. The photos in this report are from recent trips.

Blackfin Tuna

Blackfin tuna turned up consistently this month. They run offshore year-round, fight hard for their size, and are a good fish to take home.

Mahi-Mahi/Wahoo

Mahi-mahi are still around in October, with both larger and smaller fish in the mix. They are most abundant in spring and summer, so a fall mahi catch is a bonus on an offshore day. See our offshore fishing charters page for trip lengths and rates.

Wahoo showed up this month too. They are prized for their speed, fight and flavor, and peak season runs from fall through winter, so October is the start of it.

Snapper

Yelloweye snapper and other snapper came up on several trips. If snapper is the goal, see our reef fishing charters page.
